All Summer Events Do not Sizzle

Last week I attended one of our regular village events on the lawn at the local pub. Unfortunately, it happened to be one of those all too common chilly nights that we are experiencing this “barbeque summer”. All the usuals showed up, but apparently someone forgot to get heaters from a patio heater hire company. While what was missing weren’t people, they were crucial attendees nonetheless.

What I observed was that my good ole friends behave entirely differently when they are in a comfortable temperature, commonly created by patio heaters, and when they are chilly willy. Good ole Sam, who is normally the life of the party, went home early to warm up with a hot chocolate. Giles and Rita, who usually start the dancing off, remained seated near the door of the pub. All in all, it was not a night to remember.
